Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion on static build of libxml2 and the rest, may be the way to go.

I got various suggestions back on 3rd party stuff from CMake Mailing list.
One mentioned a new module called BundleUtilities:
http://www.cmake.org/Wiki/BundleUtilitiesExample

Could be of interest, for something..
